Hunt for gunman after man is shot dead in St. Paul

Police in St. Paul on hunting a suspect wanted for a fatal shooting in the Summit-University neighborhood on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 700 block of Carroll Avenue at around 8:45 p.m., and arrived to find the victim inside a van suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics were on their way to the scene as officers attempted life-saving measures, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Police prevented potential witnesses from leaving the area while its forensic teams collected evidence.

As of late Thursday night no arrests had been made.

The victim's identity, age, or cause of death haven't yet been revealed, with this information expected to be released at a later stage by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Star Tribune however reports that he was shot in the head.

It's the fifth homicide reported in St. Paul this year. Police want anyone with information to call them at 651-266-5650.
