Police are investigating after a hunter found a body in woodland just outside of Mankato on Thursday.
The discovery was made on land northeast of Hwy. 83 and County Road 12, with police called by the hunter at 9:38 a.m.
The body appeared to have been there for a significant amount of time, with the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office saying it was "partially-decayed."
The identity and the gender of the deceased has not yet been determined. The body has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating.
Police say there is no known threat to the public.
