Hwy. 100 re-opens after police incident in Edina

The suspect has been arrested and Hwy. 100 has been re-opened in both directions. 

1:30 P.M. UPDATE

Traffic cameras show that the SWAT team is still at the scene with police, and the red pickup truck that sparked a chase and closure of Hwy. 100 is still surrounded as officers negotiate with the suspect.

12:20 P.M. UPDATE

According to Fox 9, a SWAT team is at the scene negotiating with a motorist. The situation is the result of a police chase ending in a crash, with the pursuit beginning after the driver of a red pickup rammed a squad car at Bredesen Park in Edina. 

12 P.M.

Highway 100 is closed in the western Twin Cities as police attend a major traffic incident.

The road is closed southbound at Excelsior Blvd. and northbound at Hwy. 62 after an incident at 50th Street was reported around 11:20 a.m.

The closure is likely to be in place for 3 hours.

Details of the incident are yet to be released, but images on traffic cams appear to show several police vehicles surrounding a red pickup.

Traffic meanwhile is backing up along Hwy. 100, with this shot taken just after noon.
