Your options for grocery shopping in the Twin Cities grew a bit Tuesday morning.

Hy-Vee, the Iowa-based employee-owned chain of supermarkets in the Midwest, made its debut at 6 a.m. in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, when the company opened its doors at locations in New Hope and Oakdale.

The stores will be open 24/7.

Now Open!!!!!

The Pioneer Press got a tour of the new Oakdale spot last week, and highlighted the store's size (bigger than a Cub Foods) and different food options (kiosks, takeout kitchens that employ nine chefs, a modern Market Grille – which also includes a bar, a flower shop, and more).

According to WCCO, more Hy-Vee locations will be popping up here, with locations in Brooklyn Park and Lakeville announced, plus two more on the docket.

These aren't the first Hy-Vees in Minnesota – there were already 17 dotted across cities in southern Minnesota, including four locations in Rochester and a couple in Mankato. Click here to see the full list.

Stretching into the Twin Cities is part of the brand's plan for "aggressive growth," as the Star Tribune put it this summer, noting it faces a tough battle to unseat the local leader Cub Foods.
