Hypothermia suspected as cause of death for husband, wife involved in rollover crash near Mille Lacs Lake
A husband and wife died after being involved in a single-vehicle crash in central Minnesota, with their suspected cause of death being hypothermia.
The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office says the rollover crash happened in a ditch in Lakeside Township, which borders the northeast side of Mille Lacs Lake. The 911 caller alerted the sheriff's office to the crash around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, saying there were two people in the vehicle, which was upside down and partially submerged in water.
First responders arrived at the scene and found two occupants dead inside the vehicle.
They have been identified as Paul and Teresa Debreto, a married couple from Isle, Minnesota.
A provisional finding from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office determined that they died of probable hypothermia. It is not clear how much time passed between the crash and when they were discovered.
