Interstate 94 is closed eastbound at Freeport after a fatal crash, and is expected to remain closed until Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened near the exit for Freeport at milepost 144, resulting in at least one fatality, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The stretch of road is expected to be closed until 1:30 p.m., according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation website.
A second crash was reported in the ensuing miles-long backup of vehicles from the first crash.
The State Patrol says this happened near milepost 140, and has resulted in serious injuries.
