Illegal fireworks keeping you awake? Don't call cops

Minneapolis police do not want you to call them with noise complaints this year – they advise you to instead fill out an online form. The form will be "reviewed," but don't expect an officer to respond, the city says.

The city of Minneapolis has set up a website form to take your complaints about illegal fireworks going off in your neighborhood. They note that an officer will not be dispatched.

Police say 911 call centers are typically overloaded with calls on July 4 from people complaining about fireworks, which ties up the police from responding to more pressing emergencies, KARE 11 reports.

Aerial and explosive fireworks are illegal in the city. Here's the city's press release.
