Infant from vacationing family dies at Minnesota resort

The 4-month-old is from a family that was vacationing in Minnesota.

The death of a 4-month-old baby is being investigated by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

Per a release, the sheriff's office was contacted via a 911 call just after 3 a.m. Wednesday, with the reporting party saying the infant was unconscious and not breathing.

Family members performed CPR on the baby before deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene and took over, but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

"At this time it is believed that the death is accidental," the sheriff's office said, "however, the investigation is on-going." A cause of death will be announced following an autopsy by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

The baby and family are from another state. They were vacationing at a resort in Otter Tail County, the sheriff's office said.
