Inmate at Hennepin County Jail dies in 'apparent suicide'

He died on Thursday, almost a week after being found unresponsive.

An inmate at Hennepin County Jail died on Thursday, six days after being found unresponsive in his jail cell.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office describes the 23-year-old man's death as "an apparent suicide," with the inmate found in his cell at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, during a routine health and wellness check.

CPR was carried out on the inmate, who was housed in a cell on his own, before he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
