The man who fled a Minneapolis courtroom Thursday while the verdict convicting him of attempted murder was being read is back in custody.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Michael Henderson was arrested Friday in Minneapolis, hours after his dash from the courtroom into the streets of downtown Minneapolis prompted authorities to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

The sheriff's office says he was taken into custody without incident around 7 a.m. Friday on the 2400 block of Garfield Avenue South, adding a tip helped lead to the arrest.

According to the Star Tribune, Henderson may have gotten into a waiting car after fleeing. A search for Henderson in the nearby area stretched into the evening, the paper says.

Sheriff’s department spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson told the AP there was a scuffle with some deputies when Henderson fled the courtroom Thursday afternoon, one of whom was injured. WCCO reports deputies are on hand for about 35,000 court appearances per year at the Government Center.

Henderson was convicted in the March armed robbery of a Bloomington supermarket where he had worked, the Associated Press reports.

The Star Tribune posted the criminal complaint against Henderson, which includes attempted murder, armed robbery, and aggravated assault charges stemming from the March 25 incident at Sam’s Club.
