Instagram wants you to celebrate kindness with a weekend-long party

Instagram wants to promote kindness right now – and is inviting people all over the world to get together as part of a celebration.

The get-togethers are for something called Worldwide InstaMeet 15. Instagrammers everywhere are encouraged to go to one of the many InstaMeets (gatherings of Instagram users) over the weekend.

The idea is that tens of thousands of people from across the globe will go beyond the internet to connect with others who love creativity and kindness. Once you're together at an InstaMeet, you can share ideas, take photos, and just have fun.

And you can use #WWIM15❤️ to connect with all the other groups.

Another feature Instagram is rolling out to promote a kind, safe environment involves censoring photos.

So in the near future, you might notice some blurry pics in the feed with a little warning explaining the image may be "offensive or disturbing."

Blurred posts will be ones that don't actually violate guidelines, but still might be perceived as sensitive content.

"This change means you are less likely to have surprising or unwanted experiences in the app," Instagram's news release explains.

And if you'd like to see what's behind the blur, just tap it and everything will appear as it normally would.

On a slightly different note, Instagram has announced two-step authentication is now available to everyone. So if you want some extra security, just tap the little gear icon on your profile and choose "Two-Factor Authentication." Then you'll have to enter a code each time you log in.
