Armed domestic assault suspect found hiding in apartment stairwell

An armed domestic assault suspect in Inver Grove Heights was arrested after being found hiding in an apartment building stairwell.

According to the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, officers responded to a report of a domestic assault involving weapons at the 5400 block of Blackberry Trail on Sunday at around 5 p.m.

The victim reported that the suspect, a 25-year-old man from South St. Paul, had assaulted her and had a gun. The suspect fled the apartment before officers arrived.

The Inver Grove Heights K9 unit was deployed to search the outside of the building. The Minnesota State Patrol Helicopter also assisted with the search.

The suspect was found hiding in the stairwell of the building and was taken into custody. The suspect and responding officers were uninjured.
