An Inver Grove Heights man who was convicted of producing sexually explicit images of a minor will spend the next 15 years in federal prison.
Antonio Eric Torres Maldonado, 34, admitted to sexually abusing a minor over multiple years, during which he used his cell phone to take pictures of the child, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.
He was sentenced this week to 180 months (15 years) in federal prison followed by 15 years of supervised release.
Maldonado had pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on April 21 to one count of production and attempted production of child pornography.
He was also convicted in Dakota County Court of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced to 172 months (14.33 years) in prison.
Maldonado's federal and state sentences will be served concurrently.
The case against Maldonado stems from Project Safe Childhood, which is a federal nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation and abuse.
