The investigation into the hanging death of a 6-year-old in Brooklyn Park is closed and foul play isn't suspected, reports note.

Kendrea Johnson was found unconscious in a bedroom of her foster home. She had a jump rope around her neck and was hanging from the bunk bed in her room.

Deputy Chief Mark Bruley told the Star Tribune Thursday that they may never know if it was an accident or suicide.

Family members had said they didn't believe Kendrea would take her own life, but child therapists told the newspaper Kendrea had been receiving treatment for homicidal and suicidal thoughts.

The license of the foster home where she was found was also temporarily suspended, KSTP reported. The state has 90 days to reinstate, revoke or permanently suspect the license.
