Investigation underway after 2 people shot outside Burnsville McDonald's

Authorities in Burnsville are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting that left two people hospitalized. 

It happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. on the 2900 block of Hwy 13 W., according to a tweet from the Burnsville Police Department:

The department indicates officers arrived to find "blood & bullet holes" at the scene as well as two people with gunshot wounds. At the time of the announcement, the victims were "currently at the hospital," but the extent of their injuries has not been specified. 

A picture shared on social media by KSTP cameraman Travis Rosauer indicates the scene was outside the local McDonald's:
