Investigation underway after cat found shot through legs with arrow

It happened this past week in Lake Benton, southwest Minnesota.

Authorities are looking for the person who shot and seriously injured a cat with an arrow in Lincoln County last week.

The cat was found by its family at the side of their house in Lake Benton on Thursday night, according to a Facebook post. Both of its legs were shot through with an arrow, a sight which "absolutely horrified" the children who made the discovery.

That post has been shared more than 1,600 times and received nearly a thousand comments.

Lake Benton police are now "actively investigating the matter":

Few other details are available as yet. The cat seems to have survived the attack, but its current condition is unknown.

Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to contact the Lake Benton Police Department by email at lbpd@lakebenton.us, or call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 507-694-1664.
