Investigators find human remains in wooded area of Cass County

An ongoing investigation being conducted by the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department prompted a search that led to the discovery of what is believed to be human remains. 

The discovery was made Tuesday, Sept. 10, in a rural wooded area of Cass Lake in Cass County. An autopsy will be conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. 

Police have not publicized what the ongoing investigation was in relation to, nor have they provided any other information about the case. 

Further details will be made available once the human remains are positively identified and family members are notified.
