Unsealed search warrants in connection to the death of Amanda Jo Vangrinsven reveal more details about her disappearance and death.
Vangrinsven, 32, was drinking at the Isanti VFW where she worked, and later left with a 34-year-old man to go to a bar the Dugout Bar Bar and Grill in Bethel on Aug. 5.
Five days after she was last seen, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension executed a search warrant on a property in Athens Township belonging to the man she was last seen with.
Investigators found her body buried in the south section of the property where the man had been seen using his tractor, with investigators confirming the body was Vangrinsven's, the search warrant says. Her body was taken to the medical examiner, where a preliminary examination of the body shows "a projectile, consistent with a bullet, lodged in the skull of the body."
The man who Vangrinsven was last seen with had previously told investigators he was a good shot. Investigators noted that his statements about what happened on Aug. 5 were inconsistent with other aspects of their investigation.
According to the search warrant, the man has been admitted to the mental health ward with the VA in St. Cloud.
No one has been arrested nor charged in connection to the case.
