Skies clear, temps to drop after Sunday storms roll through
Another round of severe weather swept through Minnesota Sunday afternoon, bringing some brief heavy downpours, lightning and high winds to parts of the state. But the conditions didn't turn out to be as threatening as earlier predicted.
As of 7 p.m., the strongest of the storms had moved into Wisconsin and only lighter rain showers were expected for the rest of Sunday evening.
After the showers moved out, rainbows appeared in the sky in several places and photos of them were shared on social media. Here are a few more.
The storms developed in southern Minnesota around noon Sunday, and spread east to northeast during the afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service says.
There were reports of half-inch in diameter hail in Willmar after 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the weather service tweeted.
Temperatures are expected to drop after Sunday, and that means any leftover rain overnight could turn to snow for some Minnesotans by Monday.
WCCO says there could be a few inches of snow on the ground by Monday morning for people living near the Canadian border.

Sunday's storms came after parts of Minnesota saw severe weather Saturday. Preliminary reports show there were eight tornadoes in Minnesota – all were brief, with damage reported in Litchfield, Kimball and Montevideo, the National Weather Service tweeted.
