If you've been grumbling about unseasonably cool weather this week, it could be worse.

One year ago, it was.

Last year on May 14, much of Minnesota was sweltering through steamy 90-degree weather, with a record high of 98 degrees in the metro, the National Weather Service reminds us.

Tonight: Expect frost in northern reaches of the state, forecasters say. Overnight lows will dip to 38 in the metro, 31 in Bemidji and 29 in Ely and Tower, the National Weather Service says. WCCO says it'll look like this:

Wednesday will top out at 60 degrees in the Twin Cities – the warmest day of the work week – with overnight lows in the 30s the next three nights.

WCCO's Mike Augustnyiak tweeted out this feverish-to-frosty flashback:

No doubt, Wednesday morning was chilly statewide:

Forget 90. What happened to 70? Temperatures should hit that blissful milestone again next week, KARE 11 says.

And the weekend looks nice – warmer and sunny, 60 degrees Saturday and 65 degrees Sunday in the metro, the National Weather Service says.

A glimpse at weekend weather:

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59, low 41.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 65, low 47.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 63, low 43.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68, low 49, slight chance of evening showers.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62, low 40.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66, low 46, slight chance of showers.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 61, low 42.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66, low 51, chance of rain 20 percent.
