No longer will you have to squint at the small screen on your laptop or iPad to watch the NCAA women's hockey national championship game.

Big Ten Network announced Thursday that it will televise the Frozen Four semifinals and championship game for the next four years, beginning this year with the March 17 semifinals and March 19 championship game in Missouri.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be providing a national stage for an iconic championship event like the Women’s Frozen Four,” said Michael Calderon, senior vice president of programming and digital media at BTN. “The Big Ten Network’s commitment to gender equality has resulted in more than 700 women’s sporting events being televised and streamed per year, and the Women’s Frozen Four is a welcome addition to an already compelling lineup.”

Considering the Gophers have won four of the last five national titles, this is excellent news. It's even better since Ridder Arena in Minneapolis will host the Frozen Four in 2018.

This year's Gophers are 21-5-3 and ranked fourth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll. They wrap up the regular season the next two weekends with games against North Dakota and No. 1 Wisconsin.
