First it was Target, now Macy's has revealed its hiring plans for the holiday season, with more than 1,000 seasonal jobs available in the region.

Macy's and Bloomingdale's announced Tuesday it will be hiring 83,000 workers in its stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers for the holidays – 13,000 more than the extra staff Target will be taking on over the same period.

Of those, around 1,200 will be hired in the "Minneapolis district," which covers Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and the Dakotas, with stores set to hold job fairs next week.

According to its jobs page, "Holiday Hiring Events" will be held at Macy's in Southdale Center in Edina, Maplewood Mall, downtown Minneapolis, Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka, Burnsville Center and Rosedale Center in Roseville on Sept. 30 between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

You can find out more information on what they're looking for from workers here.

Of the 83,000 being hired, around 15,000 will work in its fulfillment warehouses, while 1,000 will be hired to support its Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York and other holiday events across the country.

Not only will employees be able to earn some extra cash, Macy's is kindly encouraging them to spend it in store by giving each worker a 20 percent staff discount on most of its merchandise.

Anyone applying should be aware most positions will require them to work evenings, weekends and sometimes overnight.
