A man jogging on Barn Bluff along the Mississippi River in Red Wing was killed after falling from the 200-foot rock wall Wednesday night, the Red Wing Republican Eagle reports.

Witnesses told police that the man, whose identity has not been released, had asked for directions off the bluff about 20 minutes before he fell.

The jogger’s body was discovered on a path at the bottom of the rock wall by a passersby around 8:50 p.m.

Witnesses performed CPR before first responders arrived, but were unable to resuscitate the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The trail on the bluff’s north side overlooks the river and goes through abandoned limestone quarries, the Star Tribune reports. The trail’s users are advised to take care, especially on wet days and in early spring.
