The jogger who fell to his death from a Mississippi River bluff shortly after asking for directions Wednesday evening has been identified as a Missouri man.

The Red Wing Republican Eagle reports 54-year-old David Locuson of Fenton, Mo. was in in the Red Wing area on a business trip.

Police said Locuson was seen jogging along Barn Bluff on the North Trail before he was found dead by a passerby at the bottom of a 200-foot rock wall around 9 p.m. The man reportedly asked for directions off the bluff about 20 minutes before he fell.

Witnesses attempted to resuscitate Locuson before first responders arrived, but were unsuccessful.

Trail users are advised to take care due to loose rocks, steep slopes and vertical drops, especially on wet days and in early spring.

In 2011, 75-year-old Mavis Knudson of Edina died after falling from Barn Bluff, the newspaper reports. Another death occurred in 2004.
