According to a search warrant affidavit filed in Ramsey County District Court, Kira Steger's iPhone was sold to an electronics re-saler in St. Paul before ending up in Indonesia.

The Star Tribune reports Steger's phone was out of use following her disappearance. Records obtained from Apple Inc. show her phone had been sold to EZ Traderz, but it's unclear when. The phone was later reactivated in Indonesia.

When questioned by police in June, the owner of EZ Traderz directed authorities to the man who sold the phone. The man gave officers a statement, which is still being verified, and a search warrant was filed to access the seller's cell phone records.

Steger's body was recovered from the Mississippi River on May 8 after law enforcement and volunteers spent weeks searching for her.

According to court documents, Verizon Wireless records indicate that Steger's phone wasn't used after 10 p.m. on Feb. 21, the last day Steger was seen alive. Earlier that evening, evidence shows Steger had exchanged several text messages with a man she had been "romantically linked to."

Her husband, Jeffery Trevino, was charged with second-degree murder after copious amounts of Steger's blood was found at the couple's St. Paul home.

Trevino pleaded not guilty. A trial is scheduled for Sept. 16.
