Klobuchar among Dems urging Hillary Clinton to run for president

Minnesota's Amy Klobuchar joined all of the other female Democratic Senators in signing a letter encouraging Hillary Clinton to run for president, ABC News reports.

ABC says the letter was meant as a private show of support for a Clinton presidential campaign, but one of the senators mentioned it in passing while speaking to the group EMILY's List this week.

Word of the letter reinforces what many analysts already suspected: that other potential Democratic candidates would step aside should Clinton enter the presidential race.

Eric Black of MinnPost is among the pundits who say it's hard to picture any prominent woman in the party challenging Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Jason Linkins of the Huffington Post mocks the newsworthiness of the letter's existence ... before spending ten paragraphs expounding on that theme. The letter the Senators wrote to Clinton has not been released. To Linkins, word that it exists tells us only that some names - Klobuchar's in particular - should figure less prominently in presidential prognosticating.

The rumors about a possible Clinton campaign came to Minnesota last weekend, when the former Senator and Secretary of State came to the Twin Cities for a speech at a St. Louis Park synagogue.

As for Klobuchar, a Washington Post blogger this week handicapped the Democratic field of candidates not named Hillary Clinton. Chris Cillizza includes Klobuchar on his list but puts her in the lowest tier, with several names above hers.
