Klobuchar surges in polls, donations after strong debate performance
By most accounts, Sen. Amy Klobuchar had a great night at Friday's presidential debate, and it looks like it's already paying off.
The Klobuchar campaign has announced a $2 million spike in donations following the New Hampshire debate, saying on Saturday that it's her "best fundraising haul for any Democratic debate."
“With proven grassroots support, Amy continues to outperform expectations and punch above her weight,” said Campaign Manager Justin Buoen in a press release. “Following her debate performance, we’ve raised $2 million and have seen an outpouring of donations from all 50 states which will allow us to compete in New Hampshire and beyond.”
This isn't the only welcome news for the Klobuchar camp ahead of the New Hampshire primary. The latest polling also shows serious promise for Tuesday's vote:
The poll, from Emerson College, shows Klobuchar in third place in the state, just behind Mayor Pete Buttigieg (Sen. Bernie Sanders is in the lead).
The marks a significant surge after her showing in the botched Iowa Caucuses, where Klobuchar came in a disappointing fifth place behind Vice President Joe Biden.
Her latest debate performance was a turning point for her campaign, with pundits praising her for taking on the two frontrunners, and ending the night with an impactful closing statement, among other memorable moments:
In another sign of post-debate success, Klobuchar's sudden surge has even picked up its own hashtag on social media: #Klomentum.
