Large hail, 75 mph winds possible with Tuesday's storms

A twister or two can't be ruled out.

There's a pretty good chance we'll see some severe weather in Minnesota on Tuesday.

There's an enhanced risk of severe weather across western Minnesota, meaning numerous severe storms are possible.

The main risks are large hail up to 2 inches in diameter, and damaging winds with gusts up to 75 mph, but a tornado or two can't be ruled out in western Minnesota the National Weather Service says

(Tornadoes in September aren't very common – of all the twisters in Minnesota between 1950-2010, only 4 percent happened in the month of September, according to the Minnesota DNR.)

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop over the eastern Dakotas Tuesday afternoon and then move east into Minnesota in the mid to late evening, most likely between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. Wednesday, the weather service notes.

The storms are expected to weaken as they move into the eastern part of the state.

This wet and stormy weather is expected to continue across Minnesota for much of the week and into the weekend. Here's a look at the forecast:
