'Large Redwood tree' falls, kills Minnesota man in California
A Minnesota man walking through the Muir Woods National Monument in California was killed by a falling tree on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old has been identified by the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff's Office as Subhradeep Dutta, of Edina. Dutta was hit by a "large redwood tree" just before 4:40 p.m. while walking on a trail path, the coroner announced.
"Upon the arrival of First Responders to the scene, a male subject was discovered unconscious and lifeless beneath a large Redwood tree, which had unexpectedly fallen to the ground," the Coroner Division said.
Dutta sustained severe traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene around 5 p.m.
According to his LinkedIn page, Dutta worked for Seagate Technology, which has multiple locations in the south metro of the Twin Cities.
