Last Chance Day: 2015 Minnesota State Fair coming to a close

If you still weren't sure whether or not summer is over, this ought to drive the reality right home: the Minnesota State Fair is coming to an end.

Monday, Labor Day, is the final day of the 2015 Great Minnesota Get-Together, and the fairgrounds close at 11 p.m.

While this is typically when vendors offer "Last Chance" deals to entice late-to-the-game fairgoers, there's plenty going on that's sure to make this day one for the books.

Two towering country music legends – Kris Kristofferson and the Okie from Muskogee himself, Merle Haggard – will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., closing out the 2015 Grandstand Concert Series.

Meanwhile, Carousel Park is holding a "Celebrate Hmong Minnesota Day" event.

And if you are a bargain hunter, the hunting will be good – a long list of vendors (who sell everything from Alpaca sweaters to Birkenstock sandals) will be discounting their goods, while the fair's legendary food booths will also have deals for hungry last-day visitors.

One of those booths – San Felipe Tacos, in the Food Building – is the winner of the 2015 Great Minnesota Get-Together's Best Food or Beverage award.

They're offering a "buy any taco, get a 20 oz. soda for $1" deal.

However, just because it's the last day of the fair doesn't mean it's wise to expect lighter crowds, if this past weekend is any indication: With over 211,000 people coming through the gates, Saturday was the busiest day of the 2015 State Fair (and one of the busiest Saturdays of the past couple years).
