Police in St. Paul are investigating a shooting that left a man dead late Saturday evening.

The incident was reported at 11:15 p.m., with paramedics sent to Kennard Street North and Ross Avenue in the city's East Side on report of an assault.

When they got to the scene, they found a young man lying in the street with a gunshot wound. He was unconscious and not breathing, and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
