For a second consecutive day, Twin Cities commuters are waking up to dangerous conditions on city roads, as another band of light snow is creating slick conditions across the metro.

By 6 a.m., there had already been several crashes reported in the Twin Cities metro, including a serious crash that closed westbound Minnesota 610 between Maple Grove Parkway and I-94.

Other crashes reported early Tuesday morning include a rollover on southbound Hwy. 100, a vehicle spinout on I-35W northbound in St. Anthony, and a crash on eastbound I-94 near I-35W.

Drivers are being urged to slow down and take extra care on the roads, coming after the Twin Cities saw 314 crashes and 64 vehicle spinouts during the Monday morning commute.

While the metro hasn't received much in the way of measurable slow, the light film that fell overnight is more than enough to cause problems given the extreme cold the state is experiencing right now.

Temperatures dipped to eight below overnight, with a similar pattern of weather – and on some nights even colder – expected to continue in the metro for the next week.
