A mid-afternoon lightning strike started a garage on fire in rural St. Louis County on Saturday.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says it received a 911 call reporting a garage on fire at 4932 Swanstrom Road in Grand Lake Township, with the caller saying his garage had been struck by lightning.

A deputy arrived to the scene and confirmed that there were visible flames coming from the garage, which quickly became fully engulfed in fire.

The garage was a total loss but the nearby house was not damaged and nobody was injured.

Grand Lake Township is northwest of Duluth and Hermantown in northern Minnesota.
