U.S. Olympic skier and St. Paul native Lindsey Vonn says she'll skip a White House visit if she wins at the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Vonn made the statement to CNN on Thursday from St. Moritz, Switzerland, where she's preparing for Pyeongchang 2018.

"Well I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president," she told CNN's Christina Macfarlane.

Vonn, who is the most decorated skier in American history, went on to say: "I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony. I want to represent our country well. And I don't think that there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that."

When Macfarlane asked whether the 33-year-old would accept an invitation to the White House, should she win, Vonn replied, "Absolutely not."

Vonn isn't the only U.S. athlete to state she would reject an invitation to the White House.

According to USA Today, Olympic free skier Gus Kenworthy and figure skaters Ashley Wagner, Nathan Chen and Adam Rippon have also publicly stated that they would not travel to the White House.

Vonn hasn't competed in the Olympics since Vancouver 2010 – a knee injury kept her out of the 2014 Sochi Games. In addition to her 2010 Olympic downhill gold and super G bronze, she holds five World Championship medals, including double gold in 2009.
