A disturbing discovery of a blood-like liquid running down a wall inside a Minneapolis apartment has gone viral, with the tenants finding out that a body was in the unit a floor above them.
A video from inside the apartment has been retweeted more than 16,000 times and has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.
Tenant Evin Schultz, using the Twitter handle @piggyazalea, said: "This is like Paranormal Activity-type (expletive). This is like The Shining. Where is it coming from? Because I don't know. Nor does the maintenance man who came in now."
Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder confirmed that a body was found in an apartment on the 1800 block of Park Ave. in Minneapolis. Officers investigated the scene and nothing appeared suspicious.
The deceased person's identity and cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner at a later stage.
Elder says the case is a good example of why it's important to keep in contact with your neighbors and loved ones
Another resident of the apartment who posted a tweet showing the liquid on the wall has been retweeted more than 30,000 times.
The bizarre story was back up through other social media accounts of residents, including one that shows police and medical examiner vehicles outside the apartment building.
