Litchfield woman dies in head-on crash in Carver County

One person died and another driver was injured in a head-on collision in Carver County on Monday morning. 

The crash happened around 10:50 a.m. on Hwy. 212 in Dahlgren Township, which is just west of Chaska near the southwest metro. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a 2006 Buick Rendezvous traveling westbound on the highway crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban head-on near Laurie Lane. 

The driver of a the Buick, a 58-year-old woman from Litchfield, Minnesota, died in the crash. Her identity has not been released. 

A 55-year-old Sanborn, Minnesota, woman was driving the Suburban. She suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and was transported to nearby Ridgeview Hospital for treatment. 

There have been 159 deaths on Minnesota roads so far in 2019, which is the same number there were at the same point in 2018, according to the Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety
