Three people were hospitalized after being rescued from a Wednesday fire in Golden Valley.
At around 8:37 a.m., the Golden Valley Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the first floor of a townhome on the 7600 block of Harold Avenue
By the time the department arrived, they found two homes on fire and completely destroyed. A neighboring home had partial damage.
Three people were rescued by a passerby and two City of Golden Valley maintenance employees working nearby when the fire broke out, according to the department.
Golden Valley Fire Chief John Crelly said the fires would have potentially been fatal were it not for the actions of the people nearby.
"This was a very fast-moving fire," Crelly said in a statement. "If these people hadn't been close by, there may have been fatalities."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Departments from St. Louis Park, West Metro Fire, Plymouth, Hopkins, Robbinsdale, Minnetonka and Eden Prairie also responded to the fire.
