Low rental vacancy rates in Minneapolis push more struggling families to shelters

Minneapolis is 2.8. And if you look at the affordable housing numbers, we’re essentially at zero right now."

Grumnit adds the average number of people staying at the shelter a year ago was 350, but more recently that number has grown to nearly 420.

In September, the Minnesota Housing Partnership said 94 percent of the state's counties lack affordable rental housing, Twin Cities Business reports.
