A maintenance worker in Rochester was killed in a fall from a hotel roof last Friday.

Rochester police say the man was doing maintenance work on the roof of Brentwood Inn & Suites around 9:15 a.m. when he tripped and fell to his death. Police told ABC 6 News that the four-story fall killed him instantly.

The worker has been identified as Scott David Pelnar, 58, of Rochester.

The Post Bulletin reports that the incident was caught on surveillance video, showing Pelnar changing filters on air conditioning units when he tripped near the edge and fell.

Pelnar's obituary says he graduated from John Marshall High School in 1979 before serving as an F-16 radar technician in the Air Force. He later returned to Rochester and received a degree in robotics, with future years spent working with Burroughs Corporation, IBM and most recently, Brentwood Inn & Suites.
