A large-scale police chase ended with the suspect fleeing on foot, with police finding a body in a lake a short time later.
Corcoran PD said the chase started in Rogers, where the driver of black sedan was involved in suspicious activity around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
The sedan evaded Rogers police and set off at high speeds on I-94 near Hwy. 610.
Corcoran police took over around County Road 30, with the driver at one point veering towards a squad car, narrowly missing. The pursuit continued into Rogers and Maple Grove, with several police departments involved, before officers lost sight of the vehicle.
Eventually they found it unoccupied on the 6900 block of Fish Lake Road, near Cedar Island Lake, in Maple Grove.
A short time later, they heard two cries for help from the direction of the lake.
Officers began rescue efforts for the person calling for help, and called in the Hennepin County Water Patrol as well as Maple Grove Fire and air support from the Minnesota State Patrol.
A body was found near the location where the calls were heard at 5:06 a.m.
Corcoran Police said the department will investigate the pursuit while the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office will investigate the death. The victim's identity has not been released.
