A male killed himself outside a north metro police station on Tuesday morning.

The Centennial Lakes Police Department said there had been a "critical incident" on its property, which has since been confirmed as a suicide by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. 

According to a release, a male was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the police station at 54 North Road in Circle Pines. 

The body was discovered at 9 a.m., with police saying the male was not a police department employee. 

Centennial Lakes PD said there is "NO continuing danger to the community" and that no department personnel were involved or injured. 

An active investigation is ongoing and no further details are available.
