Man, 19, injured in 30-foot fall from rock cliff in Taylors Falls
A 19-year-old was seriously injured in a rock cliff fall at Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls on Sunday evening.
The fall happened around 5:30 p.m., with the Chisago County Sheriff's Office receiving a 911 call from a person reporting that a 19-year-old man fell from a rock cliff and was unresponsive.
The caller did know their exact location so deputies used their squad sirens to help narrow down a search location while the 911 caller stayed on the phone with an emergency operator.
First responders navigated "the extreme terrain" and found the 19-year-old victim at the base of a rock cliff that is approximately 30 feet tall in the area of Milltown Road and Hwy. 8 in Taylors Falls.
The victim was treated at the scene and then lowered to safety and then transported to a nearby emergency department before being flown by North Air Care to a level 1 trauma center.
The 19-year-old's current condition is unknown.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Taylors Falls Fire Department, St. Croix Falls Fire Department, Lakes Region EMS and the Minnesota DNR.
