Authorities are investigating a car crash that killed of a 20-year-old man from Isanti.
The crash happened Saturday morning on northbound Highway 65 in East Bethel, Anoka County.
According to a news release from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, the man's Chrysler 300 left the road and struck a traffic control light. Authorities arrived a short time later and pronounced him dead at the scene.
He was the car's only occupant. His name has not been released.
As the incident is still under investigation, it's not yet clear what may have caused the crash.
Traffic was disrupted in the area for a while, with authorities shutting down the northbound lanes of Highway 65 at Viking Blvd. "for an extended period of time" while they investigated.
This brings the state's total number of traffic fatalities to at least 283 for the year so far, according to statistics from MnDOT.
The final tally of road deaths for 2018 was 381.
