A 53-year-old man from Duluth has been arrested in connection to multiple structure fires in St. Louis County.

The incidents were reported in Grand Lake Township in the early hours of Monday morning.

A mobile home and a travel trailer on the 6400 block of Beckman Road were both on fire when the Grand Lake Fire Department arrived.

The department, along with other agencies, were able to put out the fires, but both structures were a total loss. No one was injured in the fires.

An investigation by local officials and the State Fire Marshall’s Office determined the incident was an arson, with the suspect having fled the scene before officials arrived.

He was later located in a nearby wooded area with the aid of K-9 officers. The suspect is being held at St. Louis County Jail and faces two counts of first-degree arson.

The estimated damage caused by the fire is $15,000.
