A driver from Mankato was killed in a two-vehicle crash east of the city in the early hours of Sunday.
The crash was reported at 12:28 A.M. at milepost 122 on Hwy. 60 in Le Seuer County, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
The driver of a Chevy Impala, identified as 54-year-old Steven Roemhildt of Mankato, collided with an eastbound Ford Taurus, driven by a 21-year-old man from Lakeville.
Roemhildt was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Taurus was taken to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol says that both drivers were wearing seat belts, and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
It has been a deadly start to 2021 on Minnesota's roads. The Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety says there have been 59 deaths so far this year, compared to 44 at the same time last year.
