Man, 59, killed in northwestern Minnesota crash
A 59-year-old man from Euclid, Minnesota was killed in a crash in Polk County Tuesday evening.
The crash was reported just before 8 p.m. on Center Street West in Belgium Township, with an eastbound Jeep and a westbound Pontiac colliding near 221st Avenue Southwest.
The Pontiac Grand AM driver, Michael Weiland, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol says he was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Jeep, a 65-year-old woman from Thief River Falls who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.
Police say road conditions were wet at the time. The circumstances of how the vehicles came to collide are under investigation.
