Deputies in Washington County say a man drowned at a community park in Mahtomedi Wednesday afternoon.

An emergency call came in at 3:05 p.m., saying there was a small boat partially submerged and property left on the beach at Wildwood Park, which abuts onto Lost Lake in Mahtomedi.

When responders got there they saw a person in the water, with CPR administered once they'd been pulled out.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The individual hasn't been identified, other than the sheriff's office saying he's a 67-year-old man from Mahtomedi.

The incident is still under investigation.

Wildwood Park is a community park covering 21.6 acres in south central Mahtomedi, the city's website says, and has views of Lost Lake, a fishing pier, picnic tables, play equipment, a volleyball court and a baseball field.

As of July 31, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety says there have been 9 boating-related drownings reported in the state in 2018.

This compares to 10 in the same period last year, and 11 in 2016.
