Man, 82, dies after car crash near Hudson
Authorities in Wisconsin's St. Croix County are investigating a car crash that killed an 82-year-old man over the weekend.
Per a release from the local sheriff's office, it happened Friday afternoon in Eau Galle Township, which is about 24 miles from the county seat of Hudson.
Authorities say a Chevy Silverado driven by a 25-year-old woman struck a Toyota RAV4 operated by Douglas A. Last of Spring Valley, Wisconsin.
Last's vehicle was at a stop sign when it pulled out in front of the Silverado, which did not have a stop sign and thus had the right of way, "according to witness statements and evidence at the scene."
Both vehicles collided and came to a rest off the roadway, a news release says.
Last was taken to Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin, where he subsequently died as a result of his injuries. The other driver suffered minor injuries.
Authorities note that Last was wearing his seatbelt, while the 25-year-old Silverado driver was not.
The death marks St. Croix County's seventh recorded traffic fatality in 2021. An investigation into the crash is now underway.
