A collision between a car and a train Sunday afternoon in the northwestern Minnesota town of Sabin killed a 91-year-old man and seriously injured his 83-year-old wife, the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reports.

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says William Briden was a passenger in the vehicle driven by his wife, Gloria Briden.

The scene of the accident – the Otter Tail Valley Railroad tracks – isn't far from the Bridens' home in Sabin, the Forum says.

Bergquist says there are signs, but no crossing arms at the intersection of the tracks. He also notes crashes at the train intersection involving victims who live nearby is not that unusual.

The sheriff said Gloria Briden was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Fargo with serious injuries. Her husband's remains will be sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The Hudson Observer also reports that a train accident killed a Roberts, Wisconsin, truck driver Monday morning. The paper says the driver, who was not identified, was missing after a train hit the cab of the truck on the tracks. Officials found the truck driver's body shortly after.

The train accidents follow a pair of light rail incidents in the Twin Cities over the weekend.

KSTP says a Maple Grove squad car ran into a light rail train in Minneapolis Saturday morning, leaving a Maple Grove police officer slightly injured; while a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train hit a pedestrian on Nicollet Island Saturday morning.

Another tragic accident claimed the life of an 81-year-old man in Nessel Township Sunday afternoon.

The Associated Press says Chisago County received a call about 4 p.m. about a missing man. Before they arrived, they received another call to say the man was found pinned under a tractor.

Sheriff's officials have not released the man's name yet because they were still notifying his relatives.
