A man accused of running from the scene of a fatal crash, taking off his clothes, and then breaking into a home, has pleaded guilty.

Eric Kasprzyk, 40, of Rosemount, pleaded guilty Wednesday to criminal vehicular homicide and first-degree burglary in connection to the April 1 incident that killed a 45-year-old father, Sun This Week reports.

According to the chargesagainst him:

Around 8:30 a.m. on April 1, Kasprzyk was driving the wrong way down 160th Street in Lakeville when he ran a red light going up to 80 mph, and hit a Toyota Camry driven by Osah Phetsarath.

The incident killed Phetsarath, and caused a multi-vehicle crash.

Witnesses said after the crash, Kasprzyk took off his clothes and ran from the scene. He then ran into an Apple Valley home and into a closet.

The homeowner, who was there with two young kids at the time, said Kasprzyk was acting frantic and erratic, trying to lock the front door and prevent police from getting inside.

He was arrested at the home and transported to a hospital to be checked out. Officials had suspected Kasprzyk was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, but he denied that.

Kasprzyk told police that he didn't know why he had taken off his clothes, saying he didn't remember anything after the crash.

“The defendant’s actions resulted in a senseless and avoidable death and caused extreme fear to a family in the home he invaded as he fled the scene of the crash,” Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said in a statement, according to reports. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Osah Phetsarath.”

Phetsarath was born in Laos and lived in the Twin Cities. He owned Puffy Cream Donut Plus in Eagan, according to his obituary.

Kasprzyk remains in jail on $250,000 bail, jail records show. The judge ordered a pre-sentencing investigation and set the sentencing hearing for Aug. 9, Rosemount Town Pages says.
